The Fanny pack/day pack has fit my needs of getting my larger shoulder pack off my back. And it still has allowed me to carry the essentials for a day trip, plus an extra jacket strapped on the bottom.
Thanks 😊

Perfect day trail or around town lumbar pack

Just purchased a Mountainsmith Day Lumbar pack. Caught out on a camping trip in New Mexico and southern Colorado with out a pack of any sorts to use on the trails and about town. Waked an outfitters shop in Taos and picked one up. Just what I was looking for in terms of comfort and versatility. Bingo!

Best Design Lumbar Pack

Mountainsmith makes the best-looking, most functional and most comfortable lumbar packs. They are the Rolls-Royce of lumbar packs. I have the small, medium and large, and I have traveled everywhere on earth with them. If you buy the optional over-the-shoulder straps for the day back, they can do heavier duty beyond 15 pounds of carry weight. When I fly, I use my Mountainsmith day pack in conjunction with my Osprey Farpoint 40-liter backpack, and there is nothing I can't do for six weeks plus on the road. When I get where I'm going, I often switch to the medium or small lumbar packs, choosing one or the other before my trip. On September 10 I have a wedding to attend in Rome, then I'm taking off for Tunisia for a couple of weeks to see Carthage and tour. Thus, I will need the flexibility of hiking, going to the beach and doing civilized things with civilized clothes (blue blazer and slacks, maybe a tie). So, this rig has me covered for clothes, electronics, credentials, wallet, etc. With optional straps and more simple straps that come with Mountainsmith packs not only can I carry everything, but I can protect my valuables and have them at my fingertips or in the custody of my wife.

Large and comfortable

I needed a pack to hold camera gear, water. Etc., things needed for a day hike. This seems well made with a thick material. It is comfortable on my waist but also has a good shoulder strap. It will actually hold my camera with 600m lens which surprised me. This makes it easy to get everything to the car.I have used it for a couple of short birding hikes and found I don’t notice it is there until I need something and it is easily at hand. All the various pockets make it easy to reach what you need. This is lightweight and gives me more than enough room for day hikes.
