The American Alpine Club is driven to support our shared passion for climbing and respect for the places we climb. As our neighbor, the American Alpine Club has been our friend and partner for years. While our gear and financial support benefits many AAC programs, we primarily focus on their education efforts. These programs teach new climbers about gear, technique, safety and more. At the end of the day, we want to help the AAC get more people outside in any way we can.
Big City Mountaineers transforms the lives of under-served youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. They partner with community-based youth organizations and caring adult volunteers who act as mentors in the field to help young people realize their potential. The curriculum improves integrity, self-esteem, responsibility, decision-making abilities and communication skills in close to 1,000 youth annually– and we're proud to help out!
Recognizing the therapeutic effects of long distance outdoor expeditions, Warrior Expeditions created the Warrior Hike, Warrior Bike, and Warrior Paddle programs to help combat veterans "walk off the war" and transition from their military service. As the primary rain cover sponsor for veterans on 8 trails (Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Dive Trail, and more) and even more rivers and roads, we do our best to keep our veterans outfitted and dry on their long journeys across the country.
The Continental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC) is the national non-profit working in partnership with the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management to protect, promote, and preserve the Continental Divide Trail. CDTC is a membership organization founded by a group of citizens just like us that are passionate about building a strong community of supporters and Trail Enthusiasts who want to see the Trail completed and protected, not just for today’s users, but for future generations to come. The Continental Divide Trail is an especially important trail to us as it goes right through Colorado, our home and backyard. Mountainsmith is proud to support the continued efforts to complete and protect the trail in any way we can.
Mountainsmith has enjoyed a philanthropic partnership with the National Ski Patrol for nearly a decade. For the fall/winter 2016/17 ski season, we worked closely with their internal team and in-field patrollers to modify the iconic Mountainsmith Tour lumbar pack. We were thrilled to launch the Patrol Tour and provide a durable carrying solution for patrollers to easily access their emergency gear and ultimately facilitate the valuable service they provide to the ski and snowboard community across the country.
“We are very excited about our renewed partnership with Mountainsmith. The new Patrol Tour is an outstanding example of our valued partnership and how it leads to the creation of products that best fit the needs of patrollers. This pack is built to withstand the abuse patrollers will put it through in the course of their day-to-day work, and includes very handy features, such as the two internal removable organizer bags for medical supplies, and the removable shoulder harness, which allows the pack to be carried more like a backpack for easier carrying when fully loaded.” – NSP Communications Director Candace Horgan.
