Co-designed with The Real Hiking Viking, our 2-person single wall UL tent shreds the weight (2lbs 7oz) by utilizing the trekking poles you're already using on the trail for set-up and stability. Hybrid, ultralight 20d silicon coated Nylon/Poly ripstop provides best-in-class properties for a technical tent fabric that will keep you protected while destroying the weight of a traditional dome tent.

  • Bundled option ($319.95) comes with carbon fiber set-up poles or use your own trekking poles on the standard version ($289.95)

Weight-weenies rejoice! The Mtn Shelter NEO 2—our new ultralight trekking pole tent.

Inspired by and co-designed with The Real Hiking Viking (AKA Jabba), we welcome you to spend a few nights on the trail with this new ultralight heavy hitter. Of course, we wanted to call this trekking pole set-up tent the "Jabba the Hut", but um...Disney and uh...Lucasfilm; so Mtn Shelter NEO 2 it is!

Offered in a 2-person and a 1-person version, this single wall tent shreds the weight by utilizing the trekking poles you're already using on the trail for set-up and stability and, honestly, when properly guyed out, this tent is more stable than traditional dome styles. Pair this tent with a set of our Andesite NEO carbon fiber trekking poles (6oz/ea) and you are creating some serious trail jealousy. And for the bikepackers and dual-sport adventurers, we also offer these UL tents in a bundled option with a set of collapsible carbon fiber poles which stow away to 10" in length; keeping space on your two-wheeled honey at a premium.

Constructed using a silicon coated, hybrid nylon/poly ripstop tent fabric for both fly and floor; giving you the best of both worlds on material properties: UV resistance, low stretch, hydrophobic and great tensile & tear strength.  We've also added best-in-class airflow thru the tent while hanging around at the campsite by creating our Trident entry system which allows you to completely open up both sides of the tent with our triangular mesh doors (four on the 2-person and three on the 1-person). And the vestibule doors are with a two-way zipper so you can add covered ventilation at the top to reduce condensation at night.

Wind (54mph) and Rain (65psi) Room Tested!

First impressions: we got a winner

I'm drift between ultralight/lightweight depending on trip. Was feeling a bit cramped in my UL 1 person tent in a recent rainstorm, so I was in the market for a 2 person when this was released. I was a bit skeptical since there were no reviews, so took a chance....and super glad I did. Tent was to spec on weight, overall solid craftsmanship. Setup was straightforward, easy to get a solid pitch. Roomy for 1 with lots of vestibule space. Zero sag overnight with this material. Didn't get a chance to test in rain, but not worried. Love how the design lets you pull back the side panels and roll mesh doors out of the way for an almost tarp like experience. Side pullouts are effective for stability and gaining more head space. Nice stuff sack that is sized perfectly for horizontal storage in pack. Previous owner of the Durston Xmid 2, which I got rid of due to finicky pitch on uneven ground and large footprint, and this one is superior on both fronts.
Minor nitpicks: they send you with thicker replacement guy lines due to production oversight, but they should have replaced them and not make the customers. Stakes are so-so and heavier than needed, so replaced with better quality lighter ones I already had which dropped weight to 37oz. As a picky person when it comes to packs & tents, this is likely to be my new favorite for backpacking.
Note: Only a few nights in it, so long term durability out of scope for this review.
