Outstanding Bag

I initially purchased the model of this bag that was available in 2012. Since then it has been everywhere including sandy beaches, the wet and muddy Pacific Northwest, and the city. It is the first item I grab when it's time to get out and explore due to its comfort, even when packed to the brim. The pockets, panels, and interior design are unparalleled. Its smart-looking design is classy enough to wear it traveling and in the city. After more than a decade, the bag still looks exceptionally well. This is significant, as other manufacturer's products can look threadbare after just a few weeks, even without any of the adventures my Mountainsmith has seen. I did choose to indulge in the 2023 Day and love the coronet blue color and the zipper belt pocket for a phone. When I've had questions about my Mountainshmith products, the support team has been second to none in their professionalism, commitment, and quick responses. Well done!

Alpine Skiing

For over 35 years, I've been using a Mountainsmith lumbar pack. I passed my original on to a grandson to use in Scouting and replaced it a few years ago. The focus of my review is on what an outstanding choice it is for downhill skiing. As a compact pack supported by my pelvic girdle, it provides just the right amount of volume while not interfering at all with movement while skiing. Another great benefit is the ability to loosen the belt slightly and spin it around to the front to access the contents without having to first remove the pack. This is very helpful when adding or removing layers during the course of the day. Perhaps the biggest advantage however is being able to do the same thing just prior to boarding a chair lift. Spinning the pack around to the front allows you to slide back fully onto the seat and at the same time provides access to a pair of mittens for the ride back up the mountain. Today many ski areas require the removal of backpacks prior to boarding the lift for safety reasons. With my lumbar pack in front, I've never had any problems.

Great quality and a lot of room inside the bag

The Fanny pack/day pack has fit my needs of getting my larger shoulder pack off my back. And it still has allowed me to carry the essentials for a day trip, plus an extra jacket strapped on the bottom.
Thanks 😊

Perfect day trail or around town lumbar pack

Just purchased a Mountainsmith Day Lumbar pack. Caught out on a camping trip in New Mexico and southern Colorado with out a pack of any sorts to use on the trails and about town. Waked an outfitters shop in Taos and picked one up. Just what I was looking for in terms of comfort and versatility. Bingo!
