Total Disappointment - Nothing like the previous version
Purchased my first Mountainsmith Cooloier 6 in 2018 and used it nearly every work day in the field for four years. The zipper ended up failing after the four years of heavy use and I purchased my second Cooloier 6 in 2022. Used the second Cooloier like the first one and after three and a half years the zipper gave way (see picture attached). Sent the second Cooloier in for warranty and received the following comments from the tech,
"Received your cooler but the zipper is far too worn to repair. The sliders that were on the bag were so worn through that they snapped when we tried to adjust them. Since the yellow strip is torn off one side of the zipper there is not even pressure to engage the zipper teeth, even with new zipper sliders."
This is the markings of a Cooloier that was built to last for years, not months. Mountainsmith issued an in-store refund, which was very generous.
Purchased my third Cooloier 6, the redesigned "Evo" Cooloier in December 2025. What I received is an inferior product, essentially a piece of foam insulation wrapped in a plastic sack with some corduroy exterior. The zipper is not insulated like the old one and is inferior quality. The width is so narrow that a 4" IGLOO freeze pack doesnt lay down in it anymore (see picture), and when you put it in sideways it consumes 40+% of the storage space. The interior space is also 200 cubic inches smaller than the previous version, and is wrapped in what feels like a plastic sack. Everything about this redesign is inferior to the previous version. This is dollar store quality.
Very disappointed in Mountainsmith with this redesign. Recommend the QAQC team take a previous model Cooloir 6 and test it against the current version in the FIELD. There is no comparison to the durability and quality between the two.
This Cooloier is not recommended.

The Sixer is my go-to cooler for daily use. I own both Evo color options—one stays in my truck, the other in my car. They're so reliable that I'm planning to grab two more for my side-by-side and new car. Highly recommend!
