Mountain Smith still a standalone product, 30 years as customer, passing on to next generation.

Had a Mountainsmith hip pack in my twenties and loved it traveling or when hiking in California back then. Fast forward thirty years, same great quality and one of the few products if any that have improved with time! Love it so much got them for all my kids

It is a replacement for the an old, worn identical pack.

It is a replacement for the Mt Smith pack my husband has had for 25 years or more. It was still intact But just looked a bit worn. He took out the handy little foam pad to use with the new one.

Backpacking essential

Chestpack for backpacking, Day pack around campsites. This pack can hold enough water in various configurations for a day hike. The front partition is large enough for 12x56 Nikons. Poncho/Tarp/Shelter packs out in the shock cord pocket easily. The vented back pocket is the perfect chest carry for a full size bear insurance plan. My son rode out of the grand canyon sitting on one of these. The strap that comes with it loads it onto your shoulders and it rides perfectly. Attachment points at every angle to clip into a chest harness or backpack.

Best Lumbar Packs Around!!!

I now own both the Tour and Day Lumbar Packs and they are the very best lumbar packs I have ever used. I use the recently purchased Day Lumbar Pack for my everyday pack and travel bag. It stores everything I need and doesn't feel uncomfortable on the shoulder or back. Great product from a great company!

Still using mine after almost 40 years

I LOVE this pack. I'm still using the one I bought almost 40 years ago. It's a bit worn, but still so functional. I originally bought it because standard backpacks put too much strain on my shoulders. With this style you can carry a lot of weight effortlessly. It matches my center of gravity better, also. Thanks Mountainsmith! So glad you are still making this!
