Almost....

I want to love this bag, it checks all the boxes for me, but the side water bottle pockets are a huge miss. They do hold a nalgene well, but the lack of a drawcord makes them totally useless for anything else. The pockets do have an elastic cuff around the top of them, but it is sized so generously that it really doesn't help with bottle retention or to close the pocket up around smaller items. Luckily the compression strap aids with this some, but I would not feel comfortable stashing gloves, granola bars, a pocket knife, or anything else in these pockets.

If the Water bottle retention loops were routed through the cuff on the water bottle pockets and allowed for both use as a drawcord and retention loop this bag would be basically perfect. Not sure how this went overlooked.
