Replacement tour lumbar pack for my old ~25 year old mountainsmith lumbar

Best fitting lumbar pack for my body type. I have an Osprey Talon that is too small in capacity (6 l) and fit me poorly around the back. The larger size is nice and I can take everything I need. A couple of minor issues. A key chain storage hook would be a nice improvement. After tightening the delta wing compression straps, there is a lot of extra strap length left over - hangs down to my knees. A way to easily store the extra length is needed or perhaps shortening the length of the straps to begin with (my waist size is 33 in). All and all great pack and reasonably priced.

FANTASTIC BAG

I am on my second lumbar bag. I use this skiing, biking, and hiking. I have like about 35 years using these 2 bags. This is my go to bag for regular use, almost daily. I love the pockets and versatility of how to use it. The compression lets me have a large load in the winter or just a snack and first aid kit in the summer. I can carry bike tools, w.p. jacket, water, lunch, snacks and strap on extras if necessary. I can cinch it tight and just carry my keys and a cliff bar and be fine. This is perfect for every occasion. My first one is not really wore out yet I just have it for stuff in the corner of the van the it fits perfect for a collector of stuff.

Great Pack

This pack is even better than you think. It's loaded with pockets and straps, making it very versatile. It's got hidden zippered pockets for passports and money, easy access pockets for notebooks and rain poncho, two water bottle pockets and a large pocket for snacks, bird book and binoculars. There's a waist belt for hiking and a shoulder strap for the airport. I got the Tour size, it fits everything I need and fits under the airplane seat.

Obsessed with this pack

Love this bag for a short outing with the dogs. Comfortably holds everything I need -- bins, water, notebook, a few art supplies, a raincoat, snacks. The crossbody strap helps stabilize things, but I'll probably purchase the strapettes as well. A Nalgene in the side pockets will definitely cause the bag to lean uncomfortably away from one's body, so I usually use those pockets for dog treats, poop bags, i.e. things I want easy access to but am not too worried about losing. (This is the main reason for 4 rather than 5 stars.) Love the straps at the bottom to quick secure a bulkier jacket, rumple, or pad for the dogs. Overall it's really nice for my purposes; might spring from the Day pack next!

Great product!

I bought this pack in 2015 and still use it to this day, 2025. It has climbed every major peak in the northeast, close to 60, as well as many smaller hikes and peaks. Despite its size I have been able to carry everything I need for a full day of hiking and climbing. It was originally purchased because of a bad back and a love for the outdoors. This has kept me outdoors and at 70 I'm plan on many more hikes with this pack. The only issue I've ever had was with the water bottle holders, in 2015 they had an elastic band for tension on the bottle. It limited the size of water bottle I could use. I see that has been corrected.
Great product!
