Handy Pack for Outdoor Adventures

The Mountainsmith Timber Lumbar Waist Pack is an excellent companion for outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting, or fishing. It provides a comfortable fit around the waist with adjustable straps for a personalized fit. The multiple compartments make organizing gear easy, with enough space for essentials like snacks, tools, and a small water bottle. The material feels durable, and the zippers are smooth, which is always a plus when you're out in the field. It may not be large enough for extended trips, but it's perfect for a day out. The Coyote Brown color is also a nice touch, blending well with outdoor environments.

So the pockets are a touch smaller than advertised, I'd say about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch smaller, same with depth front to back. no problems top to bottom. Largest issue comes from the clips on the included nylon belt. put bluntly, they suck. Empty pack, try to cinch the belt tight around the waist and it just drops loose while standing in my dining room. turn or move and it continues to get looser eventually falling off. Put something in the pouch and this occurs faster. So.. needs a different belt.. unless you want it for a cross-body hanger. I will say this is a decently made pack I really wanted to love but the fact it was a bit too tight for my needs and falls off made it fall off my list.It is also the only pack I found with a belt that was not attached to the pack itself so if you're tired of belts ripping off packs and have .. maybe a military webbing belt, this would be worth checking into.for sizing.. a plano 3500 series plastic case can fit in the front pocket (only just) and wont fit into the rear pocket (again only just).

Very nicely constructed, feels high quality

I was really torn between the black and coyote brown colors. They are both really nice looking, but in the end opted with the brown and have zero complaints! The bag is a nice size without being overly large as to become cumbersome. I'm only just re-starting my journey into fishing after many, many years hiatus. And I'm glad I went with this bag/pouch as it offers plenty of organization options and room to grow into. It's hard to tell from the product photos but the inside is a cool yellow fabric that offers a nice contrast to be able to find things in low light conditions.

A well made fishing belly pack which is limited by its size to only carrying a few essential items.

I have always liked Mountainsmith products and this one is no exception. It is well made and entirely serviceable for anyone needing a case like this. I gave it 4 stars because it has limited use as a fishing belly pack. Basically I will use it to hold a few plastic cases with lures and fishing pliers. There are pockets for your keys, extra leader etc. but not a lot of room for many of the items you might want to carry.

High quality MFG very well

This is a very high quality bag reminiscent of early MountainSmith® bags and gear.I typically wear a fly vest when trout fishing. I use smaller hip packs and sling packs when fishing small creeks for ease. I'm going to rig out this new mountainsmith pack as my permanent small creek pack. It is fantastic and built very well with plenty of pockets and areas for zingers. I do not like putting too much gear in packs, but I always end up doing so😐. My plan is not overload this one😁.Several pockets to hold leaders and fly boxes as well as lanyard attachments. It can be worn with the included waist strap or a waiter belt can be slipped through the gray mesh on the back. I just took a trip to Creede Colorado and use this while wet waiting smaller creeks. The included belt worked out fantastic for this.I could rant and rave quite a bit more on the build quality of this pack because it is reminiscent of packs made to last from the past.I would very much recommend this for fly fishing. As far as an EDC man-bag it would be great, but I noticed it being used in photos for concealed carry. It does not have a dedicated holster for trigger guard and I would not use it like this. Maybe if you have a micro trigger guard holster it would work on a compact.
