from 468 reviewsGreat quality, perfect size edc bag. Navy blue with yellow interior.
It was about time that I purchased a purpose built day pack. I have always gotten by with various packs however I always lacked space and/or adjustability I purchased the Apex 25 and I can only say I wish I did this much sooner. The adjustability is superb and I could not get over how comfortable it is. Love the various pockets, especially the sunglasses/keys/wallet pocket and I really like the outside storage. Just a very well put together pack.
I originally bought a Tour pack about 9 years ago and loved it, especially once I put strapettes on it. It came apart on the belt and Mountainsmith replaced it free of charge with the 2023 model. Slight decrease in durability (no more ripstop) but several improvements and slightly lighter. I day hike nearly every weekend in southeast Louisiana year round and this pack carries everything I need, while leaving my back open so I don't die of heat stroke. Even better, I can pack it in a carry on suitcase and hike trails wherever my job takes me. Super comfy and packed with features, this is one of the best hiking purchases I've ever made.
This is our second version of this tent. The first one lasted us for around 8-10 years of constant use at camps along the river, windy desert trips, freezing temps in the mountains, and rain storms where we had to dig trenches around the tent to keep the site from flooding. It stayed dry. Every time in the wind (this is a tall tent), we used the guy lines and it stayed upright when it rightfully should have been blown sideways. Poles held out under so much pressure and years of set up and take down. We finally had to get a new one once the zipper to the front screen gave out. The tent fabric and poles were still going strong. And that is why we wanted the same tent, so reliable.
Just get this tent for a family trip. For a king sized air mattress where my wife children slept along with my sleeping pad. Still plenty of room.
Set-up was super easy too
These replacement baskets for my hiking poles were a perfect fit. The poles are now good as new.
I use this daily for short hikes (4-5 miles), one of my primary needs was to have access to water bottles so that I can monitor amount left (especially when hot and humid). Versus a water bladder. I can remove and replace bottles with one hand, without removing the pack, and they don't move or fall out when I retie shoes, etc. Second need was stowing hiking poles when not needed and this pack checks the boxes. An unexpected happy surprise is how much I enjoy the bright lining, making it hard to lose things.
It's great.
First off, let me say good things about Mountainsmith. These folks go the extra mile for their customers. Phone calls are answered, emails have quick responses, their website is easy to navigate, and purchases are simple. They bent over backwards to assist me!
Now the poles. I had a pair of the older Pinnacles and replaced them with the 2024 version. The new poles sport a more stylish topo-contour design printed on the upper shafts. The shafts adjust easily and lock up solid. Spring loading takes up shock in rocky areas. The carbide tips are a better design with better baskets that screw on firmly unlike the old design. The grips fit my hands well and are ventilated to let a bit of air under your hands. The grip straps are easy to adjust and stay in place when set.
Suffice it to say that I REALLY enjoy these new Pinnacles. I never used poles in the past and now I won’t go hiking without them.
Great quality, very happy with it, great idea, love it
This is my 2nd set of these. They are game changers in my ability to navigate the backcountry at 58 years old. The only reason I have bought a 2nd set is because I left the last set leaned up against my car at the trailhead and drove off. Hopefully someone else is getting good use of them. lol
Good quality tent for the price; performs well in mild climates.
I'm one of those people who like to be prepared. Which means I carry a great variety of things in a bag in my purse and I was getting tired of having to dump out a bag with a single pocket everytime I needed something. The small essentials stash bag has a ton of pockets and loops to make it easy to store and find things, including an outside pocket for the little things you need all the time like chapstick. I have first aid supplies, meds, writing utensils, lotion, a leatherman, eye drops, a flashlight, snacks, safety pins, matches, ear plugs, feminine products and lots more stashed for all of life's emergencies. I call it my "save the world" bag.
purchased with a vision of continuing need for dining fly, serious illness has confined me to home. shade and shelter are still needed and these poles allow quick set up and dousing of the tarp. Anchors are landscape features and life is good
This tent is perfect for two people with cots and lots of gear. Perfect for car camping.
